Looking through my archives, I found this little speech or whatever. It was actually for one of my friends who was complaining about being pressured to be in a relationship by everyone around her. Friends and family. The full version of her rant is on my blogspot page, dated June 6th. Check it out if you have the time or if you're interested.
Here. I just think people should see this. Also, below is a cute rhyme I got from a movie. :)
Jessica and April's Rhyme:Boys are cheats and liars. They're such a big disgrace. They will tell you anything to get to second base--- ball, baseball, he thinks he's gonna score. If you let him go all the way then you are a hor--- ticulture studies flowers, geology studies rocks. The only thing a guy wants from you is a place to put his cock--- roaches, beetles, butterflies and bugs. Nothing makes him happier than a giant pair of jug--- glers and acrobats, a dancing bear named Chuck. What all guys really want to do is --- forget it, no such luck.

Posted - 10/24/2002 : 17:37:34This one really sucks big time. [
it's also embarrassing at times when your parents step in to give a helping hand] Some people think that no boyfriend = loneliness or no boyfriend = loser, but it doesn't really work that way. It depends on what makes you happy at the moment or if you really want to. Just because you don't have a boyfriend doesn't mean you're looking for one or that you couldn't have one. It's not a rule that everybody has to have a boyfriend to be able to live. Geez. People like that seriously need to have a perspective check.
This, I had to go through before. Some guys [
they have no life] were asking me, "So, you don't have a boyfriend? Want me to find one for you?" They ask me this just about everyday of the week! It was almost so nice to say, "No, but I'd like to find one for you because you're so obsessed with it!" [
and to think that they're guys]
Also, some girls have this notion that if they don't have a boyfriend, their popularity drops by a hundred notches. They ask people, "Do you have a boyfriend?" , and when the answer is "No" , they look at you, then ask, "Why??" , like it's something so unusual or weird. That is soooo highschool. And I even hated people like that during highschool. Get good grades before you decide to be all mature or whatever you call being taken is.
I don't see why my goal in life should be "
not to be single"..
Anyway, I know that these things shouldn't be rushed. Like Anna said, it'll happen when it's really meant to happen. If you force it, it's probably not going to work out. Right now, I'm in a relationship, and he wasn't pushed to me by people, it just happened. [
no intervention needed]
I hope that finally, someone'll see the logic. I'm sick of all my "attached" friends thinking that just because they're happily settled,
I have to be too. [
if I were still single- that is] Sorry, I'm happy the way I am. Plus, I'm not going to settle for just anyone [kind of like they did] just so I can say I have a boyfriend. Nuh-uh, not me! And if people accuse me of being picky, oh well. I think that people aren't picky enough, these days. If not jumping on every drunk, pervert, ignoramus, or egotist who asks me out, means I'm going to have to be single, oh well! I'm willing to live with that. I can be happy by myself, because I'm not just waiting for someone else to make me happy.
Another thing I notice, is that many people don't want to date anymore. They just want to jump right into relationships [
like Dr. Jones wanted to do with Anna] after meeting a person once and act like they've been dating for a long time. Sorry, I'm not down with that. It does take time to get to know a person and then to know if you want to be involved with them.
Is it really a crime to be a single woman? I mean guys have it easy being single and all. Gah. Stupid typecastings and stereotypes!
